Meet Tom
Capt. Tom Rowland's path to the water started in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where hours spent fishing with his father built the foundation for everything that followed. That foundation took him to the wild backcountry streams of Yellowstone, then to seven seasons as a drift boat guide on the great Western rivers, and eventually to Key West — where he spent a full year learning the flats before he ever put a paying customer in the boat. What came next was one of the most decorated careers in the sport: more than 65 championships and top-5 finishes across fly and conventional tackle tournaments in fresh and saltwater, a Gold Medal at the inaugural ESPN Great Outdoor Games, and a world-recognized fly casting distance of 131 feet with a standard 5-weight.
Tom is the co-creator and host of Saltwater Experience, now in its 17th season and airing on Discovery Channel, Fox, Sportsman Channel, and Waypoint TV. In 2018, he launched the Tom Rowland Podcast, which has grown to over 1,000 episodes and is heard in nearly every country in the world. Whether he's on the water, behind a microphone, or casting a fly rod, Tom's mission has always been the same: go deeper, teach more, and share the obsession.
